  6. HourWorldｪ is about time, here, there, and around the world.
  7. HourWorldｪ is about almanacs and planning.
  8. HourWorldｪ is about lighting from the sun and the moon.
  9. HourWorldｪ is about telephone calls at appropriate times.
  10. HourWorldｪ is about beauty and curiosity.

  12. HourWorldｪ is a unique software program that doesn't really fit into any previous category,
  13. as you'll see for yourself.  Started in 1994 as the WorldClock Desk Accessory, rapidly increasing
  14. Macintosh speeds have enabled a variety of enhancements and new features not practicable until 
  15. recently.  We welcome your support of this ongoing project via two registration options.

  17. What Have I Downloaded?

  19. The accompanying software contains all the code and graphics of the full version of HourWorldｪ,
  20. but not all features are enabled without registration.  As downloaded without registration, the program
  21. runs as HourWorldｪ Lite.  It works in any Power Macintosh, and is intended to meet the needs of 
  22. casual users located in or near major cities in the U.S.  HourWorldｪ Lite presents a small world map 
  23. with sun and moon in a moving pattern of day, twilight, and night. Daylight blends into twilight and 
  24. darkness with geometric accuracy.  A variety of screens show times around the world, sunrise and 
  25. sunset times,□sun and moon calendars past and future, and even a sundial.  Configuring 
  26. HourWorldｪ Lite is easy.  Simply click on one of the clocks, scroll through the list to your city or 
  27. the nearest city, and make it your home location.  The HourWorldｪ Lite software also contains 
  28. demonstration features of the full HourWorldｪ program.

  30. What Are The Benefits To Registering?
  31.  
  32. There are three operational modes of the HourWorldｪ software application distributed with 
  33. this read-me file.  Registration enables additional features you may wish to use.
  34.  
  35. 1) The Unregistered Lite mode (as downloaded) is for evaluation purposes only. The program
  36.      starts up with an "Agree" screen.  You must agree to the conditions and accept the disclaimers to
  37.      use the software.  The program provides a set of displays and functions that will meet the needs 
  38.      and interests of many people just as it is, without upgrading.  Clicking the size box in the upper 
  39.      right corner of the screen gives demonstration views of the full program.

  41.      Five additional functions of the full HourWorldｪ program are included in the software, but are
  42.      not available without registering.  They are: Almanac Printing, Large Display Option, Phone Call 
  43.      Coordinator, Global Positioning System (GPS), and Database Editing.

  45. 2) The Registered Lite mode (registration fee: $15.00). If you have evaluated HourWorldｪ Lite
  46.      favorably, and wish to continue using it, but do not need the five additional features in the full 
  47.      version of HourWorldｪ, registering HourWorldｪ Lite will remove the startup "Agree" screen. 
  48.      You'll be in our database, and eligible to upgrade later to the full version of HourWorldｪ for an 
  49.      additional $15.00. You will also gain access to the registered user portion of our web site, and be 
  50.      able to download upgrades when they become available.

  52. 3) The Full HourWorldｪ program (registration fee: $29.95) adds the following additional 
  53.      features not available in either version of HourWorldｪ Lite:  1) Large display option which fills a 
  54.      standard 640 x 480 display, with 7 clocks instead of 5.  2) Almanac printing for any location and
  55.      date, by month or year.  3) Phone Call Coordinator screen for planning phone calls or other 
  56.      events across multiple time zones.  4) GPS functions and compatibility through GPSyｪ from
  57.      Global Mapping Systems  5) An editable database.  You can add or remove locations, or edit
  58.      information about locations.  You will gain access to the registered user portion of our web site,
  59.      where the latest versions and documentation will be available for download.

  61. What If I Don't Have a Power Macintosh?

  63. HourWorldｪ does an incredible amount of floating-point calculation in order to produce the
  64. twilight displays, and requires the power and speed of a PowerPC processor to do it in a reasonable
  65. time.  Our earlier product, WorldClock, does much of what HourWorldｪ does, and works in
  66. earlier 68020+ Macs.

  68. We are working on HourWorldｪ for the Windows environment, but it is not available at this date.

  71. Compatibility Note:

  73. Testing shows that HourWorldｪ is now compatible with the DoubleScroll shareware control 
  74. panel Version 2.2 Preview 6.  There is an incompatibility with earlier versions of DoubleScroll. 
  75. If using DoubleScroll with HourWorldｪ, please upgrade to DS version 2.2 Preview 6 or later.

  80. Kagiｪ offers a more complete set of payment options, especially for international customers.
